Luxe City Center renovates, Seattle updates obstervation tower, Tropicana Las Vegas announces expansion plans and other west meeting news

Arizona
Royal Palms Resort & Spa in Phoenix plans to debut its re-envisioned T. Cooks restaurant this September with expanded spaces and a new original menu by Arizona native Executive Chef Paul McCabe. The resort offers more than 20,000 square feet of function space.

California
Luxe City Center Hotel in Los Angeles completed a $5 million renovation and unveiled new indoor and outdoor meeting spaces that total 6,000 square feet, including a 3,000-square-foot ballroom, outdoor terraces and cabanas and a 12-person boardroom. The L.A. Live entertainment complex and LA Convention Center are within walking distance.

The 80-room Half Moon Bay Lodge completed a $1.5 million renovation. The boutique property specializes in group meetings and small retreats, with six meeting rooms totaling 3,600 square feet and a 400-square-foot covered patio.

Hawaii
Joie de Vivre opened the company’s second Hawaii property this spring, with the introduction of the restored Shoreline Hotel in Waikiki. The boutique property has 135 guest rooms with balconies. JDV also operates the Coconut Waikiki Hotel.

Mexico
Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa is undergoing a renovation and adding two new entertainment venues this year. All 172 suites will be upgraded and 44 new swim-out suites will be added. The project began in June and is expected to be complete by October. The Riviera Maya property also offers a 600-person convention center.

Nevada
The Seascape Ballroom at Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef Aquarium is a spectacular new venue, accommodating dinners, board meetings and receptions. The 1.3-million-gallon exhibit is home to 30 sharks, and the entire aquarium contains more than 2,000 creatures, from crocodiles and piranhas to rays and Komodo dragons. The 1,675-square-foot ballroom and adjoining patio can accommodate up to 125 guests.

Tropicana Las Vegas announced expansion plans for its meeting facility, which will bring the property’s available convention space total to more than 100,000 square feet. The 1,500-room property will be able to host up to 3,000 guests. The project will add five new breakout rooms and three new ballrooms. A recent $200 million renovation updated the 50,000-square-foot casino and added new dining and entertainment options.

Washington
Seattle’s Columbia Center plans to enhance the viewing platform on its 73rd floor Observatory to offer a 360-degree view of downtown, Mt. Rainier, the Cascade Mountains, the Space Needle and the Olympic Peninsula. The observatory towers more than 900 feet high and can be booked for private parties.
