Eastern Caribbean
- The Westin St. John Resort & Villas in the U.S. Virgin Islands is undergoing a $12 million renovation of 96 pool and beachside hotel rooms, as well as general property upgrades. The project is scheduled for completion by spring 2014.
- The Westin Resort & Casino, Aruba acquired six new beach cruisers and has launched complimentary three-mile bike tours around the capital city of Oranjestad.
- In Puerto Rico, construction is under way on the The Hyatt Place Manati, scheduled to open in 2014. The 104-room property will offer flexible meeting space, complimentary Wi-Fi, a social area with a coffeehouse vibe and other perks.
- The 151-room Best Western Plus Condado Palm Inn & Suites in San Juan recently made its debut following a $29 million renovation and reflagging. The property offers complimentary Wi-Fi and a 450-square-foot boardroom.
- The Westin Puntacana Resort is scheduled to open in December at the Puntacana Resort & Club, Dominican Republic. The 204-room beach hotel will feature convention facilities, a 24-hour business center, outdoor pool, poolside grill, lobby bar, cigar bar and walking trails.
Western Caribbean
- On track to open in December 2014, Baha Mar will be set on Nassau’s white-sand beaches, minutes from the airport and featuring an elite collection of hotel brands, including a 700-room Grand Hyatt, a 300-room Mondrian and a 200-room Rosewood, as well as the 1,000-room Baha Mar Casino & Hotel.
- The All-Inclusive Collection reflagged the Cancun Palace, the Vallarta Palace and the Aventura Palace as the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun, Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta and Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, respectively.
- Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Cancun Resort & Spa recently updated and refurbished its 602 luxury suites. A new 40,000-square-foot spa boasts hydrotherapy and gem therapy programs.
- The newly opened Lakam Center/Cancun-Riviera Maya offers 275,000 square feet of indoor space that can accommodate more than 15,000, and will host the 2014 Tianguis Turistico trade show.
- Cancun’s Barcelo Maya Beach Resort plans to finish a two-part, $45 million renovation project focused on the complex’s Maya Beach and Maya Caribe resorts by the end of 2014. Improvements include a new entertainment center with a sports bar, bowling alley and waterpark.
