Rooms with views are commonplace in beautiful Newport, a destination that offers planners many options in the off-site venue department. Following are three waterfront hot spots that’ll knock attendees’ socks off.
In nearby Bristol is Herreshoff Marine Museum/America’s Cup Hall of Fame, which according to Margaret Church, visitor experience and museum sales manager at the venue, boasts the beauty of New England’s coast and is ideal for hosting any event.
“The museum is one of the nation’s most important historic maritime treasures,” she says. “Our event facilities provide a beautiful and historic location for your event, amid dozens of exceptional historic Herreshoff boats and overlooking Bristol Harbor.”
Function spaces include the waterfront, the Hall of Boats and the Aria Gallery, and Church says a variety of special events are accommodated, such as clambakes, small conferences and fundraisers.
Forty 1 North Hotel Marina Resort has a variety of function spaces, including its primary meeting space, The Gallery. This four-season indoor and outdoor room on the marina level boasts spectacular views of Newport Harbor.
“The real piece de resistance is our 2,000-square-foot marina deck, which can be tented or left open and provides the ultimate Newport backdrop for a cocktail party or seated dinner,” says Paul Sauceda, director of sales and marketing.
The Grill, one of the resort’s on-site restaurants, specializes in steaks and seafood and produces all food and drink for visiting groups.
Originally built in 1864, OceanCliff is a newly restored mansion set atop 10 acres of rolling lawns, with panoramic views of Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
According to Kate DeCosta, corporate director of sales at OceanCliff, the venue offers exclusivity and unique meeting space with on-site catering, croquet on the back lawn and Adirondack chairs.
“From a four-course dinner in the elegant, oceanfront grand ballroom to private executive meetings, OceanCliff creates exceptional meetings and events regardless of size,” she says.
