Key Notes - Going 'On Location'

As we put the wraps on Summer, we’ve put a fancy new wrapper on our meetings industry conference coverage.

Called “On Location” on the broadcast side, we’ve gathered together meetings and conventions thought-leaders for roundtable discussions at major industry conferences to explore key issues affecting the profession. Video camera rolling, these roughly hour-long discussions have already broached the subjects of “The Future of Meetings,” taped at AIBTM in Chicago, and “Meetings Tech Trends,” addressed at the recent MPI World Education Congress in Las Vegas.

We’re currently gearing up for a taping at IMEX America in Las Vegas in mid-October, so look forward to input from top experts on planning international meetings.

Check out our dedicated page, located at www.meetingstoday.com/OnLocation to see all of our past broadcasts, along with short-form meetings industry conference video clips.

We’ve also tagged our print conference coverage pieces with the “On Location” label, which you can read on pages 8 and 9 of this month’s issue.

And speaking of the September issue, our cover story, “Creative Cost-Cutting,” dives into how planners can trim their budget without slashing quality or creativity. Everything from F&B to decor and networking—among the myriad details involved with meetings spend—is accounted for.

Also in this issue, we’re continuing with our coverage outside of North America with a “World Beat” story that sent former Meetings Focus editor Marlene Goldman to New Zealand, where she joined meeting planners to attend Tourism New Zealand’s Meetings 2013 conference and FAM, and sample the food and adventure options available from Auckland to Queenstown.

Finally, our sustainable meetings story, “Setting New Standards,” details all of the criteria that have recently been created to make sure that green meetings actually make the grade. Although it may not be the most thrill-inducing topic, it’s definitely where the recycled rubber his the road.

Have a great end of the summer, and stay tuned for future “On Location” broadcasts and stories throughout the year.
