For a destination where it was once difficult to wet one’s whistle, Salt Lake City today is filled to the brim with intriguing haunts where attendees will find craft beers, impressive wine lists and creative cocktails.
At Squatters, the first brewpub to open in Salt Lake City back in 1989, the atmosphere is energetic, and a diverse mix of patrons stop by to enjoy award-winning craft brews and traditional pub fare.
“The decor here is very ‘pubsy’ but with a hip, urban feel,” says Judy Cullen, spokeswoman for Squatters, citing a large fireplace, art from local artists and a long wooden bar.
Squatters offers several private dining areas, including a garden patio, a dining space called the Potting Shed and an upstairs dining area named The Loft.
The bar pours anything attendees desire but beer is really the name of the game here. Provo Girl Pilsner and Full Suspension Pale Ale are two popular choices.
Warm and elegantly rustic, Log Haven Restaurant is a great spot for gatherings that call for a toast.
“Nothing beats sipping a handcrafted cocktail like our Cheeky Negroni or Mumbai Gibson next to a rushing waterfall and watching the moon hover on the ridge,” says Ian Campbell, the restaurant’s food and beverage manager.
Among Log Haven’s function spaces is a stone patio located at the base of a waterfall and indoor meeting rooms that, according to Campbell, “sparkle beneath log beams and garland trim” and sport windows providing endless views of the Wasatch National Forest.
At Keys On Main, Salt Lake’s premiere dueling piano club, groups can get in on the action with karaoke on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and sit back Thursday through Saturday nights to enjoy the popular All-Request Dueling Piano Show.
“We carry a full bar, including our most popular specialty cocktail, the Britney Bitch, made with Finlandia grapefruit vodka, watermelon pucker, Sprite, Red Bull and grenadine,” says Brandon Isenhour, the venue’s general manager. “Our upscale decor and ample space are perfect for private and corporate events.”
