Radisson Suite Hotel Halifax in Nova Scotia completed a $7 million renovation. The 120-room, all-suite property is near the city’s waterfront and offers 3,000 square feet of meeting space.
Maryland
Caesar’s Entertainment and Rock Gaming began development on the $400 million Horseshoe Baltimore. The 335,000-square-foot project broke ground this summer and will include 7,700 square feet of function space, a full-service casino, three restaurants and several bars. Horseshoe Baltimore is expected to open in 2014.
The newly converted, 300-suite Embassy Suites Baltimore–Downtown opened in July following a large renovation. The former Tremont Suites Hotel property features 45,000 square feet of meeting and prefunction space, including the city’s opulently restored Grand Historic Venue space.
Rocky Gap Casino Resort which opened outside Cumberland earlier this year, plans to add a new event center by the end of 2013. The venue will add 13,000 square feet of meeting space for conferences, meetings and conventions. The resort also offers 200 hotel rooms, four restaurants and a casino with 550 slot machines.
New Jersey
Wyndham Worldwide’s New Jersey headquarters received a second LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, making it the only company in the state to be recognized in both the Corporate Interiors and Existing Building categories. Wyndham Hotel Group manages 7,410 properties with more than 635,000 hotel rooms worldwide.
New York
Turning Stone Resort Casino upstate unveiled a new $23 million Exit 33 entertainment complex. Named for the resort’s exit off Interstate 90, the venue includes a dance club, cocktail lounge, bars and a 5,000-seat theater. Turning Stone can accommodate events of up to 1,500 people with 100,000 square feet of function space.
Marriott opened a dual-branded property in Syracuse, with a Courtyard by Marriott and Renaissance Inn. The $30 million project will add 180 rooms to the city; 78 at the Residence Inn and 102 at the Courtyard.
Pennsylvania
The 253-room DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Philadelphia West announced renovation plans, with new ownership investing $6 million to update guest rooms and public space and add a new restaurant in fall 2014. The property offers 8,000 square feet of meeting space and is 15 minutes from downtown Philadelphia.
