1. Would a CVB or PCO be the best contact for international shipping questions?
CVBs and PCOs can be a good resources for shipping and customer broker companies. Here is a link to a highly reliable company that is based in Vancouver, British Columbia: www.eventsonthemove.com.

Try the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel
4. When trying to find a PCO internationally, would a DMO be able to help us pick a PCO?
A CVB/DMO can recommend a PCO - I would also reach out to fellow meeting professionals for referrals to a reliable PCO.
5. How can you find out if it is appropriate to give a gratuity to the CSM and other hotel support staff?
Suggest talking with the hotel general manager or revenue general manager to inquire about appropriate gratuities, or the DMO/CVB leadership can also be consulted for advice.
6. As a third-party planner, how do you negotiate the best deal for your client without offending a venue by asking for lower rates, better concessions, etc.?
Suggest trying to negotiate best pricing by documenting the total economic impact of the meeting, and make sure to include the TOTAL spending of all attendees, not just hotel rooms and group meals.

Customs brokers must have ability to do business and have staff in both countries.
9. Which is the most reliable of the video chat services?
For Apple/Mac users, I strongly recommend FaceTime; Skype is very good for video.
10. You mentioned you are an Apple user. When you travel overseas, do you get a local SIM card for your iPhone, and if so, which current U.S. phone carrier do you use? Does your U.S. carrier have limitations on getting a local SIM card?
I don’t personally swap SIM cards when I travel outside the U.S.A.; I use Wi-Fi services such as Skype, Kik and Vober for free Wi-Fi calls, but an alternative is to purchase a low-cost cell phone in the country you're doing your meeting in and buy low-cost pre-paid minutes.
