Saint Charles, Mo., is a charming riverfront city

While not a district of St. Louis, neighboring Saint Charles is a charming riverfront community with a low-key vibe but more than enough to keep groups happily engaged.

Dining is big, for starters, as the city has more than 150 restaurants covering a wide range of tastes, from Brazilian to BBQ and beyond. Nightlife options include casually classy establishments like the recently opened 28/65 Brewhouse, with 30 HD TVs and a game room.

Saint Charles is also a wonderful wine region, with several vineyards around the community and its own Little Hills Winery and Restaurant, featuring an attractive outdoor space for group fun ranging from receptions to murder mystery dinners.

The city is home to some unique group doings as well, such as Demolition Ball at the lively Adrenaline Zone fun center. The unusual activity blends hockey, polo, football and basketball. If that's not offbeat enough to begin with, it's played in bumper cars!
