The luxurious 340-acre Salamander Resort is now open in Middleburg, Va., in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Thirty-five miles outside Washington, D.C., and half an hour from Washington Dulles International Airport, the sprawling property offers 168 guest rooms and a 23,000-square-foot spa. The resort’s signature equestrian attractions include a 22-stall barn and miles of riding trails, plus classes and activities, from steeplechases to polo matches, which can be tailored for groups.
Meeting spaces include the 5,000-square-foot Middleburg Ballroom, two boardrooms, prefunction areas and outdoor spaces such as the Stallion Barn and large lawns. Or stay indoors in the intimate living room or library spaces, filled with books penned by famous regional authors.
The resort was inspired by owner and CEO Sheila C. Johnson’s nearby farm. Johnson is the CEO of Salamander Hotels & Resorts and a managing partner of the WNBA’s Washington Mystics.
