Former MPI Exec Joins Anaheim/Orange County VCB

ANAHEIM, Calif.

The Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau (AOCVCB) announced that Junior Tauvaa has accepted a position as senior vice president of convention sales and meeting solutions.

Tauvaa was previously senior vice president, strategic partnerships with Meeting Professional International (MPI) and its Foundation. He was with MPI for the past six years and functioned in several executive positions in sales, global development, membership, chapter management, marketing and business management roles. Prior to MPI, Tauvaa was with LA INC. (Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau), where he held several key roles within the organization working to strengthen the city’s image as a leading meeting destination.

In his new position, Tauvaa will lead the AOCVCB’s convention sales and meeting solutions teams to increase Anaheim’s market share in the national and international convention and meeting arena. He will also be involved in convention marketing initiatives to ensure the Anaheim brand continues to be positioned as a leader in the meeting, convention and special event industry.

Tauvaa will be replacing Mindy Abel, who will be transitioning to a new position within the organization as senior vice president, strategy and development. In this new role, Abel will be engaged in a number of economic development programs to grow and enhance Anaheim’s meeting destination infrastructure.

“Junior Tauvaa comes to our organization with more than 15 years of solid visitor and convention industry experience,” stated Jay Burress, president and CEO, Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau. “I’m confident that his meeting sales and management skills plus his engaging teamwork philosophy will become an immediate asset for our organization.”
