As the year winds down, the Pace is picking up when it comes to interesting coverage opportunities.
By the time you get this in the mail—or via the digital edition—November will be in full flower, and we’ll be hard at work producing a December issue and firming up plans for 2014. We’ll also have returned from what has become, arguably, the preeminent meetings industry conference and trade show, IMEX America.
Writing this a few days before taking off to Las Vegas for IMEX, it really seems like the pre-show appointment activity is progressing at a breakneck pace, with Outlook calendars and voicemail straining to keep up with the frenetic shower of appointment requests.
Sandwiched between the deluge of meetings, booth duties and educational sessions, Meetings Focus will manage to squeeze in the taping of a roundtable discussion about planning international meetings—a natural at IMEX—with a panel of global meetings experts: David Kliman, president of meetings industry consultancy The Kliman Group; Joost de Meyer, chairman and CEO of First Incentive Travel; and Anna Case, director of business events for Australia’s Gold Coast Convention Bureau. We’re also going to include any IMEX news that’s available by the second day of the show, when we’re taping.
In case you missed the Oct. 17 broadcast of this free presentation, you can check it out in its entirety here.
Back to the November issue, we hope you enjoy all of the great content inside, including an F&B Beat column on catering to attendees with food allergies—which could literally be a life-and-death matter—a profile of industry audiovisual maven Midori Connolly, whom you may have seen on the meetings education circuit, and international destination coverage of Sydney, Australia, and Singapore.
Look for monthly coverage of international destinations next year, as we continue in our efforts to expand our coverage outside of North America.
As always, and especially as we approach the beginning of a new year, please chime in with your content suggestions by sending me an e-mail to tyler.davidson@meetingsfocus.com.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy! mf
