Planner Case Study-Switzerland

Describe your event. We have booked Switzerland for a number of incentive groups in recent years. Our clients come mainly from the financial, insurance, manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries, all well represented in Switzerland. Focused mainly on Montreux, Lucerne and Lausanne, our groups range in size from around 30 to 300 attendees.

Why did you choose Switzerland? It’s safe and stable, and Switzerland comfortably meets and exceeds key planning criteria, including convenience, accessibility, efficiency, logistics and ease of movement, while offering competitive pricing and good value. Switzerland also offers a surprising range of environments, activities and group options, allowing for program diversity.

Have you encountered any challenges while in Switzerland?
No—and had there been an issue, I am confident it would have been resolved quickly and efficiently.

What did your attendees enjoy most about Switzerland?
The “wow factor” of the mountains, lakes and scenery overall—everything looks like a postcard. Plus, the authentic history, culture and gastronomy, and, as many observed, the unexpected surprises.

What unique off-site venues did you use for events?
Highlights included a dine-around in Gruyeres village; an event at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne; and for a high-end incentive, we helicoptered the group to a glacier where they enjoyed dining and activities such as dog-sledding and luging.

What advice would you give to North American planners considering Switzerland for an event?
Do not underestimate Switzerland, which some people perceive as being a little slow. There are many adventurous ways to experience this multifaceted destination, with something for everyone.
