The Hampton Inn & Suites Gaithersburg opened in July. The 125-room hotel features a 600-square-foot meeting room, business center, fitness facility, swimming pool, complimentary high-speed Internet access and complimentary shuttle service to Metrorail’s Shady Grove station.

The Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club opened in downtown Bethesda in March. The majestic Art Deco facility, originally opened in 1938 as a grand movie house, was updated with an $8 million renovation, transforming the venue into a state-of-the-art concert venue. The Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club is available for private events.

InterContinental Hotels Group announced plans to open one of the first properties under its new EVEN Hotels brand in Rockville in early 2014. Formerly a Holiday Inn Express, the converted property will feature 167 guest rooms and the unique specifications of the EVEN Hotels brand, which is designed to offer a consistent holistic wellness experience.

Construction of a brand-new Cambria Suites is well under way in Rockville. Scheduled to open in 2015, the hotel is located across the street from the headquarters of its parent company, Choice Hotels International. The new Cambria Suites will serve as Choice Hotels’ flagship property.

A new Westin development is currently expected to open in 2015 in downtown Bethesda. The proposed mixed-use development would include a 12-story Westin hotel with 222 guest rooms.

Capital Bikeshare recently introduced its shared bicycle stations in Montgomery County. Highly popular among tourists and residents alike as a means for getting around and exploring the streets of Washington, D.C., and Alexandria, Va., Capital Bikeshare opened stations throughout Bethesda, Silver Spring and Rockville. The program offers area visitors one-day and three-day memberships, and monthly or annual memberships for area residents.
