Adventurous Agendas

That next trip may be for a business meeting or a corporate getaway, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t take your breath away. With exciting activities for every age and physical state, Mexico makes it easy to pump a bit of adrenaline into any gathering.

In Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit, DMCs including Vallarta Adventures offer group scuba diving trips and small plane excursions to take in the region’s beautiful scenery. The company’s Extreme Zipline Adventure includes a visit to what is billed as “Mexico’s longest and fastest” zipline, as well as an off-road ride in a Polaris RZR UTV, a vehicle that allows participants to test their driving skills in especially challenging conditions.

Zipline adventures are also available in Los Cabos through Cabo Adventures. The company also offers an Outback & Camel Safari, encouraging groups to saddle up, hop on top of a camel and enjoy the beauty of the isolated desert. Baja Outback, meanwhile, offers visitors the chance to pick up surfing skills during classes, which are offered for all experience levels on two of the best surfing beaches in Los Cabos.

In Mazatlan, the appropriately named Mazatlan Tours offer parasailing experiences, providing participants a chance for unforgettable photo opportunities as they glide about 300 feet in the air, pulled by a speedboat through the calm Pacific waters.

Cancun and the Riviera Maya are natural choices for outdoor excitement as well, thanks to the array of attractions and activities available. Tropical Incentives Cancun offers the Selvatica Canopy Expedition and Adventure Tour, a customized group trip that takes place amid some 250 acres of lush tropical jungle between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. The canopy tour is divided into 12 cables of varying lengths and heights from 270 feet to over 2,000 feet, making up what the company says is the longest zipline circuit in North America. Following the canopy tour, participants take a ride in a former military vehicle through the jungle to a natural cenote (sink hole), where they can swim and zipline over the water.

Hotels can be a helpful source of information about DMCs and activities appropriate for any group. The Westin Resort & Spa Cancun, for example, works with International Incentive Travel to offer zipline tours, all-terrain vehicle excursions through the lower jungle and rides aboard the Shotover Jet, a high-speed boat that navigates through open cenotes and lagoons in an abandoned mine area in the jungle.
