New golf resort options for groups to consider

If you’re looking for something fresh and exciting, here are some can’t-miss new options for great group golf outings:

The Lakes at Castle Hills: Set north of Dallas, this 2,600-acre master-planned country club community featuring a Jay Moorish-designed 18-hole championship golf course offers the 25,000-square-foot Hill-Country style clubhouse that was voted “Best Elite Golf Club 2012” by Avid Golfer Magazine.

Palmetto Dunes Resort: Players at this Hilton Head Island, S.C., resort can traverse the fairways of its three golf courses in comfort and style with fleets of air-conditioned golf carts and Segway Golf Transporters. Its Arthur Hills Clubhouse features several indoor options and outdoors in a natural setting under oak trees for events.

The Resort at Pelican Hill: Overlooking the Pacific Ocean on 504 acres about 10 minutes from John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif., this luxurious resort has two Tom Fazio-designed golf courses and a posh, amenity-laden 44,000-square-foot clubhouse ideal for high-end corporate events.

Streamsong Resort: Slated to open early 2014 is a 216-room luxury lakeside lodge with 18,000 square feet of meeting space, three restaurants, rooftop lounge, full-service spa, fitness center and lakeside pool. Located 47 miles southeast of Tampa, Fla., Streamsong is home to two celebrated, high-impact golf courses designed by Tom Doak, Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw that opened to rave reviews last year.

Trump National Doral Miami: Formerly named Doral Golf Resort & Spa, this venerable 800-acre Miami resort complex with 86,000 square feet of meeting space, is undergoing an extensive $250 million renovation and enhancement program. Scheduled for completion in fall 2014, the Donald Trump-led transformation will include a refurbishment of guest rooms, a renovation of the clubhouse and a redesign of the famous “Blue Monster” golf course.
