Off-the-Radar locales in Wisconsin

Stevens Point (www.stevenspoint.com/) in Central Wisconsin is the halfway marker between Chicago and Minneapolis with easy highway access, which makes it worth looking into for planners who may have attendees traveling from out-of-state.

“The Stevens Point Area has a vibrant community culture, which is intertwined with the love of outdoor recreation, craft brewing and the arts,” says Sara Brish, executive director at the Stevens Point Area CVB.

The Pfiffner Building, once used to mill lumber, is set along the shores of the Wisconsin River at Pfiffner Pioneer Park and can accommodate up to 150 people.

Artha Bed & Breakfast has achieved Travel Green Wisconsin’s top certification rating and offers year-round hands-on workshops and retreats in solar water-heating, gardening, herbs, yoga and more.

SentryWorld is consistently ranked as one of Wisconsin’s top golf courses, which is known for its signature flower 16th hole. The SentryWorld Sports Center can accommodate groups of 15 to 1,500 with 60,000 square feet of meeting space, and will soon be undergoing renovations.

Minocqua
(www.minocqua.org/) is located in the middle of northern Wisconsin’s Lake Country and uses the tagline of “nature’s original waterpark.”

“The Minocqua area offers exceptional accommodations, modern meeting facilities, and magnificent scenery, while providing the setting for relaxed team building,” says Jane Kincheloe of the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce.

Red Crown Lodge in Arbor Vitae is located along the shores of Trout Lake and provides a first class private retreat for both corporate and family-owned businesses.

Wausau
(www.visitwausau.com/) is the largest of the three mentioned destinations, which allows groups to enjoy some of the amenities of bigger cities, while still being surrounded by woods, lakes and hills that North Central Wisconsin is known for.

“Only in Wausau can you watch a Broadway Show at The Grand Theatre, attend a conference at a boutique hotel, tour a winery and brewery and watch a World or National Canoe/Kayak Championship all within three blocks,” says Lisa Berry, sales manager at the Wausau/Central Wisconsin CVB.

The Yawkee House is a nationally registered mansion and its garden, carriage house and formal dining room are all available to be rented out for meetings and events.
