The historic Glen Cove Mansion joins official list of LGBT-friendly properties The Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center in Long Island, N.Y., recently gained “TAG Approved” status, indicating the hotel’s designation as a property that welcomes gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender guests and communities.
The TAG Approved concept and organization launched in 1997 to help hotels reach out to LGBT travelers and groups. Currently more than 2,000 hotels worldwide are involved in the program. Being TAG Approved indicates that a property enforces non-discrimination policies, treats all employees equally, provides LGBT and diversity sensitivity training, has a diverse staff and gives back to its community.
In 2011, Glen Cove was one of the first hotels in New York state to create LGBT wedding and anniversary packages following the passage of the state’s Marriage Equality Law.
The Gold Coast mansion sits on 55 acres in the Long Island region made famous again by the release of the Great Gatsby movie earlier this year.
Glen Cove features 187 guest rooms and 29,000 square feet of function space, including Gilded Age landscaped gardens.
