New and renovated properties in the South (Jan. 2014)

Bahamas
Melia Hotels International will operate a property in Nassau's $3.5 billion Baha Mar development. The 694-room Melia at Baha Mar will be part of the 1,000-acre oceanfront development that will also include the 1,000-room Baha Mar Hotel & Casino, a 700-room Grand Hyatt hotel, a 300-room Mondrian property, plus 200,000 square feet of event space.

Florida
The new South Beach Marriott in Miami is now open following a complete re-styling and renovation. The property is best-suited for smaller groups and incentive trips, with 260 guest rooms and more than 2,600 square feet of function space.

Radisson Jacksonville Butler Boulevard completed a renovation of all public spaces, including its restaurant and pool area. The 164-room hotel can accommodate groups of up to 100 guests.

Ground was broken on the 403-room Palm Beach County Convention Center Hilton in December. The hotel is slated to open in 2015 adjacent to the 350,000-square-foot convention center. www.palmbeachfl.com,

Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach will reopen this winter following a $150 million renovation. Originally built in 1940 as the Shelborne Hotel, the 200-room property offers two ballrooms, an on-site nightclub and a sundeck for special events.

Louisiana
The Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans French Quarter completed a $3.5 million renovation, upgrading all 155 of itsguest rooms. The Hilton Garden Inn offers 3 650-square-foot meeting rooms.

South Carolina
The 300-room Columbia Marriott completed a $12 million remodel project, updating meeting space, guest rooms and adding a new restaurant. The Marriott offers 18 meeting and banquet rooms, with 27,000 square feet of flexible space. Two ballrooms each measure more than 6,000 square feet and a new boardroom and lounge were added.

Tennessee
Courtyard Knoxville West/Bearden opened in November near the University of Tennessee, featuring 124 guest rooms and function space for up to 90 people. The Marriott property also offers the brand's latest innovative lobby and guest room designs.

Texas
Kimpton's 322-room Hotel Van Zandt is scheduled to open in early 2015 in Austin. The 16-story hotel will offer more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space and a chef-driven restaurant.
