New and renovated properties in the Midwest (Jan. 2014)

Illinois
A Hotel Indigo, slated to open in 2015, is being developed in Naperville. The boutique brand’s fourth hotel in the Chicago market, it will offer 160 guest rooms and meeting and banquet space for up to 60 people.

Chicago’s new Godfrey Hotel is expected to open early this year. The “upper upscale” property will offer 194 guest rooms and a versatile 15,000-square-foot “Roofscape” indoor/outdoor lounge and event space, plus function rooms suitable for executive board meetings.

Indiana
The Wyndham Indianapolis West launched a $1.5 million renovation to upgrade its 35,000 square feet of meeting and public spaces. With an 8,100-square-foot ballroom and a 9,400-square-foot exhibit hall, in addition to an assortment of smaller spaces, the Wyndham can accommodate events of up to 800 people. The hotel’s private nightclub Brickyard can accommodate up to 195 guests.

The Hyatt Place Bloomington will open in July, with 172 guest rooms and 4,400 square feet of function space.

Michigan
The 212-room Crowne Plaza Lansing West reopened following a brand conversion and renovation of its guest rooms and reception area. The hotel offers 17,000 square feet of function space including an 8,600-square-foot ballroom and 10 meeting rooms.

Minnesota
The Sheraton Bloomington opened in October, five miles from Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport in the suburb of Bloomington. The 282-room former Sofitel is in the midst of an $8 million renovation into an upscale Sheraton property. More than 10,000 square feet of function space can accommodate large groups and social functions.

Missouri
The new Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza is now open in Kansas City’s upscale Country Club Plaza shopping and entertainment district. The 132-room luxury hotel offers 5,700 square feet of function space and a rooftop pool deck.

Ohio
The Metropolitan Hotel is scheduled to open in late 2014 within Cleveland’s new high-end multiuse complex, The 9. In addition to the Marriot Autograph Collection hotel, the $250 million project will add a theater, residences, restaurants, outdoor dining areas and 12,000 square feet of meeting space to the historic Cleveland Trust Rotunda area.

South Dakota
The Deadwood Mountain Grand Holiday Inn Resort reopened after a $50 million renovation, with 98 guest rooms and five suites. The historic hotel was formerly a mining building and is 45 minutes from Mount Rushmore and close to other attractions, including the Crazy Horse Memorial and Wind Cave National Park. There is a casino on-property and a large event center that can accommodate more than 2,000 people.

wisconsin
Madison’s waterfront Edgewater Hotel will open this year, with 202 guest rooms, a ballroom overlooking Lake Mendota and 8,000 square feet of meeting space.
