PHILADELPHIA
- In June 2013, the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority selected SMG to privately manage and operate the Pennsylvania Convention Center (www.paconvention.com). According to the accompanying press release, the move is “one of four strategic initiatives” forming “part of a coordinated effort to improve the customer experience and reduce costs at the center, with the goal of attracting additional conventions, meetings and trade shows to the Philadelphia region.”
- Home2 Suites by Hilton Philadelphia–Convention Center (www.hiltonworldwide.com) in Center City debuted in August 2013. Located just steps from the convention center and Reading Terminal Market, the all-suites property features 248 units and event space for up to 40 guests.
VALLEY FORGE
- Scheduled to open this spring, the stylish new Courtyard Marriott Lansdale (www.marriott.com) will offer 125 guest rooms and 10 suites, along with seven meeting rooms, the largest accommodating up to 270 guests.
- The Valley Forge Casino Resort (www.vfcasino.com) completed a $2.8 million upgrade to 243 guest rooms at its Radisson hotel.
- The IACC-certified ACE Conference Center (www.aceconferencecenter.com) opened 21 “collaboration studios.” Joining the facility’s 38 meeting rooms and three amphitheaters, these new spaces are “redesigned for the freer thinking and imagining of today’s business models.”
