Atlanta
- The 42,000-square-foot National Center for Civil and Human Rights, located adjacent to the World of Coca-Cola and Georgia Aquarium, is on track to open in May with three exhibit areas, a retail space, three event spaces, a broadcast studio and a small cafe.
- The 95,000-square-foot College Football Hall of Fame is scheduled to open on Labor Day weekend with more than 30,000 square feet of exhibit space and a 45-yard football field that can be purposed for events.
- The $90 million Atlanta Streetcar is expected to begin service by mid-2014.
- A $25 million remodel to the Days Inn Atlanta Downtown is making way for the Aloft Atlanta Downtown, the first Starwood property of its kind in Georgia. The 242-room hotel will feature 2,000 square feet of meeting space when it opens this spring.
- Buckhead Atlanta will open this year as the city’s premier luxury retail outlet. It will feature 300,000 square feet of upscale stores, including Spanx and Hermes, plus restaurants and cafes.
- Atlanta will be the home of Porsche’s North American headquarters and North America’s first Customer and Driver Experience Center, scheduled to open in late 2014. The center, which will feature a test track, restaurant and shop for Porsche-branded goods, will allow visitors to experience what it’s like to drive a Porsche automobile.
Cobb County
- Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center, which is attached to the Cobb Galleria Convention Center, recently completed renovations to its 522 guest rooms and suites.
- The Atlanta Braves plan to build a new stadium in Cobb County and move for the start of the 2017 season. The new stadium will feature a ballpark, entertainment options and green space.
- On Memorial Day weekend, Six Flags Over Georgia will open a new waterpark, featuring an 800,000-gallon wave pool, two large slides and multiple amenities, including shaded cabanas and a restaurant.
Peachtree City
- The Wyndham Peachtree Hotel & Conference Center recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation, which included upgrades to guest rooms.
