LONDON
Shangri-La Hotels announced that the Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard will open in May on the south bank of the Thames River and will be the Hong Kong-based brand's third hotel in Europe, following Paris and Istanbul properties that opened in 2013.
The Shangri-La will occupy floors 34-52 of the dazzling 72-story Shard building, making it London's first high-rise hotel and one of the tallest hotels in Western Europe.
The hotel will offer 202 guest rooms that will each be unique, due to the building's distinctive spiral shape and design.
Three event spaces on the 34th level will offer river views, and the largest space will accommodate 140 attendees.
