CHARLOTTE
- Plans are in place to construct a 10-story Embassy Suites across from the NASCAR Hall of Fame and a block from the Charlotte Convention Center. The hotel will offer 249 guest rooms and 7,500 square feet of meeting space.
- Plans are under way to build a new convention hotel on the shores of Lake Norman, 30 minutes north of Charlotte. Slated to open in spring 2015, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Conference Center will offer 230 guest rooms and 20,000 square feet of function space.
- Hyatt Place Charlotte Downtown opened in late 2013 as part of the SKYE mixed-use high-rise condominium development in Uptown. The 172-room hotel offers more than 2,000 square feet of meeting space.
- The former two-tower Blake Hotel was renovated and converted into the Sheraton Charlotte and Le Meridien Charlotte. Both hotels have separate entrances and lobbies, but share a spa, a fitness center, pools, parking, 55,000 square feet of meeting space and six restaurants. Le Meridien also offers a rooftop bar.
- The newly branded Crowne Plaza Charlotte Executive Park is undergoing a $9 million renovation, slated for completion this year. The 297-room hotel offers 15,000 square feet of function space. All guest rooms, the lobby and meeting spaces will be updated.
- Marriott International purchased the Charlotte City Center Marriott and plans to renovate the 434-room hotel and street-level entrance. The property offers 20,000 square feet of function space.
CABARRUS COUNTY
- Great Wolf Lodge Charlotte/Concord recently added 4,400 square feet of new ballroom space.
- The SEALIFE Charlotte-Concord Aquarium opened in February with 5,000 creatures and space for groups.
