New international hotel and resort openings (March 2014)

Bali

The Chedi Sakala resort recently opened in a tranquil former fishing village that is 10 minutes from the Bali Convention Center. The luxury hotel offers 261 suites and villas and a 6,700-square-foot meeting facility. Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport also received updates.

Japan

The 249-room Tokyo Marriott opened in a hilltop location, as Marriott grows its presence in the country in preparation for the 2020 Summer Olympics. The Marriott neighbors a large cultivated garden and offers function spaces, a tea house and flexible lobby design.

Netherlands

The design-oriented hotel brand Nhow moved into Rotterdam this month with the opening of its third hotel. The property’s theme is art and architecture and there are 278 guest rooms. Nine meeting rooms can accommodate groups of up to 350 people.

South Korea

The 170-rooom JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square opened in Seoul and received LEED Gold certification. It is the second JW Marriott in the country and offers more than 10,000 square feet of function space, including a 750-person grand ballroom and a 98-screen high-definition media wall.

United Kingdom

When the Shangri-La Hotel, at The Shard debuts in May along the River Thames it will be the luxury hotel company’s third European property. The 202-room hotel will occupy 19 floors of the distinctive glass Shard building (formerly the London Bridge Tower), which stands more than 1,000 feet tall. The largest private room will be able to accommodate receptions of up to 140 guests.

The Hampton by Hilton London Waterloo is now open with 297 guest rooms. The hotel offers four small boardroom-style meeting spaces that can each seat 12 attendees, or can be combined into larger rooms.
