DFW Airport creates Group Zone for productive travelers

With the creation of a unique new Group Zone, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport seeks to distinguish itself from other airports in terms of customer service and group experience.

The 8,000-square-foot Group Zone can accommodate up to 200 people and will be bookable around-the-clock, 365 days a year, either hourly or daily.

The space is attached to the international terminal and can be easily secured if travelers want to leave their luggage somewhere safe while they browse the airport’s food and shopping offerings between flights.

“Airports are no longer just way stations,” says DFW President of Revenue Management Ken Buchanan. “Travelers want to use their downtime productively to charge mobile devices and check e-mail. The Group Zone will set us apart from other airports and motivate planners to book travel through DFW when possible.”

The creation of the Group Zone was the brainchild of ongoing research about what passengers want (besides free Wi-Fi). The zone can be set up with lounge-style seating or organized for conferences. “Groups won’t have to huddle in a corner of the airport any longer,” Buchanan says.
