Two new wineries are set to open this year on Traverse City, Michigan's, Old Mission Peninsula. Villa Mari Vineyard and Winery is being built by a long-time local grape grower and will include an underground wine cave for red wines. The vineyard uses climate control to produce delicate varietals, including sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon, malbec and syrah. Bonobo Vineyards is opening a 6,500-square-foot tasting room near the Chateau Grand Traverse winery, which has a small inn on-site.
