Herbal Essence

Adding a fragrant and often delicious ingredient to a meeting agenda, Massachusetts offers several herb farms that welcome groups.

Hartman’s Herb Farm
A family-owned farm with 23 acres of flower and herb gardens about 90 minutes northwest of Boston in Barre, Hartman’s Herb Farm serves multicourse meals for groups of up to 150 in a post-and-beam private dining room. Groups can also tour the display gardens or have an outdoor event on the property’s formal lawn.

Herb Lyceum
A five-acre herb farm north of Boston in the historic town of Groton, the Herb Lyceum is known for its intimate, chef-prepared dinners served in a charming carriage house. Along with the carriage house, the farm offers outdoor spaces for larger events ranging from casual barbecues to elegant receptions. Cooking classes and demonstrations can also be arranged.

Cape Cod Lavender Farm
Visitors are welcome to take a leisurely stroll among the acres of fragrant lavender fields planted at this family-owned farm overlooking Island Pond in Harwich on Cape Cod. The farm, which is best enjoyed during late June and early July when the lavender is in full bloom, also offers a gift shop and a shade garden surrounding a replica of a medieval castle.
