Petra Bacher’s Sartori die Torte cakes are more than just desserts, they’re works of art. Earlier this year, Bacher’s cake portfolio was awarded a silver medal in the international Galaxy Awards, a marketing communication and design competition.
Bacher is based in Vienna and began her artistic career as a textile designer after studying graphic design and landscape art.
Her towering custom cakes are architectural marvels, taking an average of six weeks to create and standing as high as three feet tall.
They can be commissioned for promotional events, meetings and banquets, and are inspired by centuries of history, from the Hapsburg Dynasty to the Baroque, Classic, Art Deco and Biedermeir eras to modern and post-modern periods.
Bacher handcrafts the edible details like florets, mouldings and rosettes, taking design cues from painters, jewelers, architects and sculptors.
She calls her whimsical cake creations “poetry on a pedestal.”
