Great for an exciting lunch break or afternoon snack stroll, the new, 138,000-square-foot Grand Rapids Downtown Market houses 24 vendors, shops, a large commercial kitchen and meeting, banquet and private event spaces for groups of up to 200 people.
The LEED-certified building was built with sustainability touches like growing green walls, a rooftop greenhouse and LED lighting fixtures that save an estimated $18,000 a year in energy costs.
Planners can book the high-end industrial kitchen, prep areas and pastry spaces for culinary programs, and workshops and classes are offered.
“The spaces at the Downtown Market are perfect for events and offer views of the Grand Rapids cityscape.” says Sarah Tupper, the market’s private events manager. “Not only is it accessible to the city infrastructure but also directly connected to a network of more than 20 food entrepreneurs for unique catering options.”
