Austria
Melia hotels moved into the Austrian market with the opening of the 253-room Melia Vienna earlier this year. The design-focused hotel will occupy 17 floors of the country’s tallest skyscraper, along the Danube River. There is 6,800 square feet of meeting space.
China
The expansive Yanqi Lake Kempinski Hotel is slated to open in May near Beijing. The property’s 595 guest rooms will be spread through 12 distinct boutique hotels. Kempinski also hopes Yanqi Lake will become an international MICE destination, with more than 150,000 square feet of conference space.
Colombia
The northeastern coast of Colombia, near the Caribbean, is now home to the Radisson Cartagena Ocean Pavillion Hotel. The 233-room beachfront property offers 11,000 square feet of function space, including a grand ballroom and outdoor venue options.
Germany
A 389-room hotel within the Munich Airport will be renovated and rebranded as a Hilton property. The Hilton Munich Airport was formerly a Kempinski property. The Hilton will open in 2015 and plans include 160 additional guest rooms by 2017. There is meeting space for 1,000 delegates.
A 274-room Andaz Munich will be constructed in central Munich as part of a mixed-use development. Conference facilities will include seven meeting rooms and a ballroom. The hotel is expected to open in 2017.
Ireland
The DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin–Burlington Road reopened following a $21 million renovation of public spaces, guest rooms and conference facilities. The hotel’s executive lounge and 30,000 square feet of meeting space were both updated, including the installation of a Guiness tap in the lounge, to cater to business travelers and event professionals.
Ivory Coast
Sofitel Hotels open its flagship West Africa property, Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire, earlier this year. The luxury hotel offers 207 guest rooms. The Abidjan Conference Center is located nearby and offers seven meeting rooms and a 1,650-seat theater.
