Florida
The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village in southwest Florida added new amenities to its 24,000 square feet of meeting space, expanding broadband capabilities and adding four breakout rooms. The hotel also forged new partnerships with local companies to offer customized tours and group outings. New excursion offerings include tours of the Wicked Dolphin Run Distillery and truffle classes at Irresistible Confection chocolatier.
Constrution began on the Hotel Indigo Miami Brickell, slated to open in 2016. The $48 million property will offer 140 guest rooms and 2,000 square feet of meeting space.
Louisiana
InterContinental New Orleans is in the midst of a $26 million renovation. The lobby area will undergo a major transformation, all 479 guest rooms will be renovated, and new meeting spaces will be added to the hotel’s existing 31,000 square feet of function space. Located on the Mardi Gras parade route, the luxury property remained open during the project, which is expected to be completed this fall.
puerto rico
San Juan’s InterContinental Puerto Rico completed a $22 million renovation, refreshing its public spaces and meeting rooms. All 398 guest rooms were upgraded. The property offers 18,000 square feet of function space and an 8,500-square-foot casino.
South Carolina
Starwood Hotels plans to open the Aloft Greenville in 2015. Featuring 144 of the brand’s loft-style guest rooms, the hotel will offer 2,800 square feet of meeting space and a rooftop pool.
Tennessee
Near Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the 200,000-square-foot Sevierville Convention Center debuted a slight name change to indicate its versatility. Events booked for 2014 include car expos, business-to-business tradeshows and an alpaca show where 500 animals will roam the floor.
texas
The 800-room Hilton Austin announced a $21 million guest room update. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the hotel updated its pool deck and bar in 2013. Located adjacent to the Austin Convention Center downtown, the Hilton offers 80,000 square feet of function space.
Virginia
The 316-suite Hyatt Dulles at Dulles International Airport completed a $3.2 million renovation. The hotel recently added a 29,000-suare-foot executive meeting center.
