Orange County's artistic attractions can get groups' creative juices flowing

Birthplace of such American icons as Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, Orange County is truly a "magic kingdom" for realizing larger-than-life dreams, California style.

New assets include the nation's first Legoland Hotel, which opened last year; the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, which is undergoing an expansion; and addressing the area's anticipated population and visitor growth, the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) transit hub, which is under construction.

Orange County is an open canvas for creativity, which groups can explore for themselves via the following options.

From the landscape painters drawn here in the early 1900s to its art colony days in the 1960s, Laguna Beach's evolution into an internationally renowned destination for art and culture includes diverse experiences for groups.

Founded in 1918 as an art gallery, the pioneering Laguna Art Museum has space for private events, including spectacular outdoor areas in adjacent Heisler Park. In nearby Laguna Canyon, is an innovative idea lab with versatile space for events. For hands-on interaction, Sawdust Studio Art Classes offers programs in various media, while Laguna Outreach for Community Arts offers outdoor art workshops connected to the area's flora and fauna.

In Irvine, The Wine Artist is a unique private event venue offering experiences that include wine bottling and labeling, cooking classes and chocolate-making for groups.

Featuring distinctive venues such as the 3,000-seat Segerstrom Hall, 2,000-seat Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, 250-seat Founders Hall and an event-capable outdoor plaza, the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa is Orange County's premier arts organization.

Formerly the Movieland Wax Museum, the Premier Exhibition Center in Buena Park is a new venue from Premier Exhibitions Inc., a leading provider of museum-quality exhibitions, such as Bodies and Titanic: The Experience. Both of these are permanently featured at the Buena Park facility, which offers banquet space for up to 200 people.
