Atlantis, Paradise Island added a new Ocean’s Edge outdoor event space and renovated guest rooms in two towers. Now one of more than 20 outdoor venue spaces on the property, Ocean’s Edge can accommodate groups of up to 200 people on a large lawn, deck and patio.
Florida
Four new ballrooms were added to the luxurious Trump National Doral Miami as part of its ongoing $250 million renovation. The largest space is the 24,000-square-foot Donald J. Trump Grand Ballroom, which will be completed in October. The other three ballrooms are already open and measure 7,300, 9,500 and 8,100 square feet.
Sarasota’s Resort at Longboat Key Club recently invested more than $4 million to update its 9,000-square-foot spa, championship golf courses and outdoor spaces. The 218-room hotel offers 12,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space, plus golf and other teambuilding options.
Georgia
InterContinental Hotels is set to unveil a 200-room Hotel Indigo in downtown Atlanta. The hotel is expected to open in 2015 and occupy eight floors of an existing building, adjacent to AmericasMart.
Mississippi
A new hotel and conference facility are planned for the city of Starkville, near Mississippi State University. Atlanta’s Peachtree Hotel Group is leading the $40 million project. The development will include a 110-room Courtyard by Marriott and a conference center with a 1,000-seat ballroom.
Tennessee
The 296-room Embassy Suites Nashville completed an $11 million renovation. The lobby and atrium spaces were updated, adding communal workspaces, casual seating options and upgraded Wi-Fi. All guest rooms were modernized, and meeting spaces expanded and reconfigured, the largest of which measures nearly 4,000 square feet.
Texas
The 224-room Sheraton Georgetown Hotel and Conference Center is slated to open in 2016. The hotel will anchor the 32-acre Rivery Park mixed-use development and feature a 30,000-square-foot conference center.
The boutique 42-room Harbor House Hotel & Marina reopend this spring following a $1.7 million renovation. The hotel offers nine boat slips, access to Galveston’s historic harbor, plus sailing, historic sites and other attractions.
