Prairie Capital Convention Center Completes $15 Million Renovation

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.

The Prairie Capital Convention Center completed its $15 million renovation, the facility's first major update since it was built in 1978,

New lighting, wall coverings, carpet and furnishings and state-of-the-art audio visual services were added, the lobby was expanded, and additional enhancements were made to loading docks, dining outlets, parking and the outdoor plaza.

The interior was designed with a “Prairie-Style” design and color-scheme, reflecting the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Dana Thomas House, also located in Springfield.

The Prairie Capital Convention Center is attached to the President Abraham Lincoln Springfield – a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, which offers 310 guest rooms and15,000 square feet of meeting space, and is adjacent to the Hilton Springfield, with 365 guest rooms and 50,000 square feet of meeting space.

More than 900 rooms and 130,000 square feet of function space are available within the Springfield convention district, which is also home to museums, shopping, historic Lincoln sites and dining.
