Boise's Hyde Park neighborhood is decidely hip

A great place to start the day is at Java Hyde Park, a neighborhood coffee house with breakfast and lunch menus that feature, among other dishes, the Macho Breakfast Burrito and Ultimate Quesadilla. Of course, there is also a menu of coffee concoctions, including drip coffee, lattes and other standbys, as well as some signature drinks, including an intriguing one called Keith Richards.

After breakfast, swing by Dunia Marketplace, a nonprofit fair trade retail store that sells handmade items from local and global artisan families. Among the gifts attendees will find to take home are candles, vases, artwork, lamps, placemats, frames and other tchotchkes.

13th Street Pub and Grill is a popular local spot with outdoor seating and dark wood decor that’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant serves craft beers and an eclectic menu, including everything from parmesan-encrusted calamari and Thai peanut tofu to local Idaho trout from Silver Creek.

Attendees with a sweet tooth will insist on visiting Goody’s Soda Fountain & Candy Store, an old-fashioned shop in the heart of Hyde Park. The highlight here is an authentic and original 1930s soda fountain with delicious locally handcrafted ice cream. The menu also features handmade chocolates, caramel corn and a large variety of specialty candy, including more than 50 Jelly Belly flavors.

Also open for all three mealtimes is Parrilla Grill and Cantina, where groups will find a fun atmosphere and a delicious menu featuring burritos, wraps, quesadillas and nachos made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. There are also daily drink specials.
