The Schwartz Family Company has signed an agreement to purchase the International Convention Centre Hotel that is planned for Sydney's Darling Harbour. Construction of the 35 story hotel is expected to start this year, and is due for completion in the second quarter of 2017. The Schwartz Family Company has appointed Accor to manage the hotel as part of their luxury Sofitel brand.
The hotel will be a major part of the new Darling Harbour conference, entertainment, leisure and business district, which is seeing $2.5 billion in investment and revitalization. Construction of a new convention and exhibition center is underway.
The Schwartz Family Company currently operates a portfolio of 12 hotels.
The 600-room Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour will include meeting rooms, ballrooms, bars and restaurants with skyline and harbor views.
