Kansas City's burgeoning Crossroads Arts District will soon open its first hotel, which is actually two hotels in one. The 10-story, 257-room project along the new streetcar line will house two franchises under one roof, a 153-room Courtyard by Marriott and a 104-room Residence Inn. One block east of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, guests will share a pool, fitness center and meeting space. Construction is slated for completion in fall 2015.
At press time, AC Hotel Kansas City Westport was slated to open in winter 2014. The 123-room property will offer mobile check-in, USB charging stations, a fitness center, an event space and a media "salon" featuring Bluetooth technology for meetings. This is only the second U.S. location for the urban lifestyle hotel brand that currently has 79 properties in Spain, Italy, Portugal and France.
Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza opened November 2013 in the Country Club Plaza District with 132 guest rooms and about 5,700 square feet of meeting space.
