Alberta
Calgary is planning to add more than 3,000 new guest rooms to its portfolio by 2017, including more than 1,000 in the downtown core. New properties slated to come on-line include a Marriott Renaissance Club Sport Hotel, a Residence by Marriott with Silverbirch Conference Center, adding 10,000 square feet of meeting space, and a new Hilton property with 30,000 square feet of function space.
California
The Barlow, a food and artisan community located in Sebastapol, 90 minutes north of San Francisco, debuted The Warehouse, a new 112,000-square-foot event venue with indoor and outdoor space. Located in a former apple cannery, the wine country space can be divided into the 250-person Station, or the smaller 1,200-square-foot Shed, with barn doors and high ceilings. For receptions, a large outdoor area features 100-year-old oak trees.
The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians announced plans for $285 million in upgrades to the Pechanga Resort and Casino. Planned additions include a new four-diamond hotel wing, spa, ballroom and meeting space, and two new restaurants. The development includes 67,000 square feet of meeting space and may break ground as soon as the first quarter of 2015.
The Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills unveiled new, stylish meeting space upgrades. All 10 meeting rooms were updated with designs inspired by Old Hollywood. The 185-room luxury hotel has a total of 9,650 square feet of function space, accommodating groups of up to 100 people.
New Mexico
The Albuquerque Convention Center completed the second phase of a major renovation, totaling more than $20 million. Most recently, a 5,6000-square-foot addition was constructed, including an outdoor deck, the Third Street entrance was updated, and interior updates were made to floors, walls, ceilings and lighting.
The Drury Plaza Hotel recently opened in Santa Fe. The five-acre property houses 182 guest rooms and meeting spaces, including the 3,760-square-foot Palace Ballroom, a 5,880-square-foot garden and a 3,400-square-foot rooftop terrace.
