The opening of the luxurious Rosewood Beijing in November kicked off the brand’s aggressive expansion into the Asian market, with nine new properties planned for the next 20 years, including hotels in Phuket and Bangkok, Thailand; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Managing Director Mark Brugger says the brand has a speedy timeline for future growth, and says Rosewood is particularly excited to unveil the 283-room Beijing property.
“There is no better place to begin than in Beijing,” he says. “The property has already been well received by travel professionals as well as the local community.”
Considered a midsize property by regional standards, the Rosewood Beijing offers a wide range of food and beverage outlets, more than 36,000 square feet of function space and a desirable location in the core of the city’s central business district.
Venue highlights include a 7,750-square-foot ballroom that is divisible into two sections, with an attached 3,000-square-foot outdoor terrace and a large foyer, anchored by paintings and art installations.
“Beijing is the art hub of China,” Brugger says. “This is reflected in the hotel through an extensive art collection on display in the meeting spaces.”
All six function rooms have big windows and natural light; four measure 900 square feet, and two slightly larger rooms overlook the lobby.
Lastly, the unique Pavilion is the hotel’s marquee venue. The flexible enclave was designed to exude residential comfort, complete with a fireplace, two large open kitchens, leather chairs and solid wood tables.
“The concept was to create the feel of a huge private mansion,” Brugger says.
The 9,600-square-foot Pavillion can accommodate approximately 260 people for sit-down meals and allows for fluid receptions, where guests can mingle and move back and forth easily between rooms.
