Shopping is the one thing that happens in Vegas that does not stay in Vegas. At the fantasy end, high rollers looking to “go big or go home” can do both by driving a Ferrari or Maserati directly off the showroom floor at the Wynn. Like all of its product offerings, though, Vegas offers stores for every taste and budget. Here’s the drop on some fun agenda-enhancing shopping experiences.
With 250-plus stores, Fashion Show is the Strip’s largest shopping destination and one of the largest shopping centers in the country. With regular weekend fashion events at the Great Hall, this nearly 2 million-square-foot retail mecca also features The Cloud, a stunning 126-foot-tall stage for a wide range of events.
Forgot to pack for that big night out in Vegas? At The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Rent The Runway offers same day styling services and a full line of women’s wear and accessories from more than 250 top designers, including Vera Wang, Calvin Klein and Carolina Herrera. Make an appointment or walk in, receive a style consultation, and then voila, you are ready to be seen at that daytime event or nighttime gala. Also offering “private styling soirees,” the store itself is available for private functions.
The Shops at Crystals at CityCenter boasts the most high-end flagship stores under one roof in the world. Housed in a multi-angled, 500,000-square-foot structure that won design awards from the American Institute of Steel Construction, elite brands include Jimmy Choo, Prada, Hermes and Versace. There’s also a two-story, 10,000-square-foot Tiffany & Co., the nation’s largest Louis Vuitton store, and dining experiences such as Mastro’s Ocean Club, set in an 80-foot-tall sculptural tree house.
In revitalized downtown Las Vegas, the event-capable Downtown Container Park features 30-plus boutiques, galleries, bars and eateries housed in shipping containers and multifunctional modular cubes. Enticing retail concepts include BluMarble (www.blumarble.com), which remakes wine, liquor and beer bottles into gift items such as glassware and belt buckles. Men looking to sharpen up for the night can repair to old-school barbershop Bolt Barbers, while women can glam it up at the Blowout Dollhouse beauty salon.
Some 20 million people, or half of all visitors to Vegas, traverse the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road each year. In prime position to catch their attention is Grand Bazaar Shops, a new outdoor retail concept inspired by the great open-air markets of the world. Directly fronting Bally’s, this “21st century bazaar,” slated to open early this year, will feature some 120 shops, restaurants and bars on two acres.
