Dine on a glacier in British Columbia
Planners looking to host a once-in-a-lifetime summer mountain meetings extravaganza can look no further than Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort, located near the base of Mount Stephens at the bottom of the Great Bear Rainforest in British Columbia, Canada. The seasonal resort is open from May 1 to Oct. 31 for groups of up to 18, and can only be reached by helicopter or float plane via Port Hardy Airport.
Jenny Jewczyk, who manages social media and agent relations at the resort, says that the property consists of nine cabins with two bedrooms each, and that Nimmo Bay hosts at least half-a-dozen corporate trips each year, with an estimated 95 percent U.S. client base, many of whom come back year-after-year.
The resort can put together just about any group experience your attendees are willing (or brave enough) to undertake, including a list of culinary adventures such as dining on a glacier, trapping and feasting on crabs, and fly-fishing for salmon, which are then smoked and packaged or prepared.
“Definitely going out and going crabbing, setting the traps and coming back the next day, and having them for dinner that night is pretty neat for a lot of people that come from a big city,” Jewczyk says.
She also notes that the resort works closely with Mission Hill Winery in the Okanagan Valley, and its kitchen doors are always open for guests who want to prepare meals with the on-site chefs.
