Singapore Celebrates 50th Anniversary With Contest

SINGAPORE

Singapore's celebration of its 50th anniversary is in full swing, with a number of events and promotional efforts already in progress and scheduled throughout 2015, several of which are being targeted toward the MICE market for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.

In 1965, Singapore gained its independence and officially became known as the Republic of Singapore, hence the reason for the yearlong golden anniversary celebration taking place in 2015. The country is looking to spread the word about its multiculturalism and rapidly evolving business infrastructure as a place where planners can craft a one-of-a-kind meetings experience for their groups.

A big part of Singapore's campaign is focusing on the individual people and communities that grew up in the country and helped shape its current status as a rising economic powerhouse and diverse cultural destination. In addition, Singapore is known for its food scene, which blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western influences.

The Singapore Tourism Bureau is joining in the celebration by offering a contest for MICE planners who want a taste of the destination for themselves.

The winners of the Singapore Tourism Board's 50th anniversary online game will be flown to the destination on an all-expenses-paid familiarization trip to get off the beaten path and explore its multicultural neighborhoods and immerse themselves in the one-of-a-kind cosmopolitan, big-city feel that has propelled this city-nation to the position of world leader on the world business scene.

The first 10 planners who book a trip to Singapore (and fulfill qualifying criteria) will win a return trip to Singapore for two passengers, with economy class air tickets, three nights of accommodations, airport transfers and a one-day tour for two provided.

The qualifying booking period is from April 1, 2015 till March 31, 2016.
