Projected for completion in first quarter 2017, All Aboard Florida, a new high-speed rail, will connect Miami to Orlando in three hours, including stops in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. The Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach link is expected by December 2016.
The 16,000-square-foot terminal at Punta Gorda Airport will be expanding to 56,000 square feet by March 2016. Allegiant Airlines currently serves 23 markets from Punta Gorda.
“This expansion will give the airport the option to go after additional airlines,” says Lorah Steiner, director of tourism for the Charlotte Harbor VCB.
Two airlines added flights to Key West International Airport: Silver Airways, which increased service from Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Tampa and Orlando, and Delta Airlines, which added two daily flights between Key West and Atlanta for a total of five daily nonstops.
