South Tahoe
The Beach Retreat and Lodge at Tahoe will open a new 10,000-square-foot meeting space adjacent to the property next month.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe, formerly Horizon, recently opened after a major investment. The property features a 25,000-square-foot casino floor, 539 guest rooms and four restaurants.

A renovation project at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, including upgrades to the casino floor, convention center and all 437 guest rooms, began in October and is scheduled for completion by next month.

Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel in December 2014 completed updates to its premium and balcony suites, lobby, banquet rooms and pool area.

Basecamp Hotel recently purchased the adjacent Capri Motel in order to expand its offerings this winter. The property now includes 24 additional guest rooms (for 74 total), a beer garden, meeting space for 40 people, a private event space in a vintage Airstream trailer, three more fire pits (for a total of four) and two large rooftop decks with views of Heavenly Mountain Resort.

McP’s Taphouse Grill opened in a new location next door to Harveys on the California side in mid-January. The longstanding taproom/eatery has 40 beers on tap, a full bar, Irish dishes including Shepherd’s Pie as well as standard pub fare including wood-fire pizzas and burgers.

Harumi Sushi, located in the Round Hill Village Shopping Center near Zephyr Cove, Nevada, opened in late January and offers 65 unique and traditional sushi rolls, nigiri and traditional Japanese dishes.

North Tahoe
Cal Neva Resort and Casino in Crystal Bay, Nev.,, is scheduled to reopen ​in December after an extensive remodel project, including upgrading all guest rooms to a four-star level and enlarging their bathrooms, creating a bigger lobby, moving the pool and adding two hot tubs and a deck overlooking the lake, and adding a restaurant next to the pool. Built in 1926, the famed Cal Neva Resort and Casino was once owned by Frank Sinatra and frequented by other icons including Marilyn Monroe, the Rat Pack and the Kennedy family.
