Latest & Greatest: Anaheim & Orange County (May 2015)

ANAHEIM

  • The Anaheim Convention Center is adding 200,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Construction commences this year, with completion by early 2017.
  • Three new hotels in 2014 and another five opening in 2015 are bringing 1,529 additional guest rooms and suites to the Anaheim Resort District area. Anticipated debuts this year include the 215-room Homewood Suites by Hilton–Disneyland Main Gate/Anaheim Convention Center this summer, and the 262-room Hyatt House at Anaheim Resort/Convention Center in December.
  • California’s first Great Wolf Lodge is under construction two miles south of the Disneyland Resort. Set for completion by early 2016, the 600-all-suite resort will offer 30,000 square feet of meeting space.

IRVINE

  • Slated for a spring 2015 opening, VENUE is a new 25,000-square-foot event facility featuring a 30-foot LED wall.
  • Accepting reservations starting Aug. 12, the new 170-room Hilton Garden Inn Irvine/Orange County Airport will offer six flexible meeting spaces for up to 120 people.

BUENA PARK

  • Slated to open in early 2016, The Source is a new urban destination featuring 500,000 square feet of retail, office, dining and entertainment space. Plans also call for a 2,000-seat performance venue and 150 all-suite hotel with meeting space, dining and a rooftop pool and bar.

LAGUNA BEACH

  • The former Laguna Cliffs Inn was reintroduced in April 2015 as the boutique Laguna Beach House following a comprehensive $1.5 million renovation of all of its 36 guest rooms and public areas, plus an expanded pool deck with fire pit, and a new boardroom for groups of up to 15.
  • The historic Aliso Creek Inn & Golf Course expects to offer preview rooms and rates in mid-June prior to its full relaunch this fall as The Ranch at Laguna Beach. Set on 87 acres, the secluded resort’s diverse accommodation mix includes 64 rooms, 20 cottages and the Tree House. Plus, the 9-hole Ben Brown’s Golf Course; a spa and fitness center; and versatile meeting spaces for up to 650 guests, including the 550-person Sage Ballroom, debuting this fall.

COSTA MESA

  • Offering more than 35,600 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, Westin South Coast Plaza expects to complete a full revitalization of all of its 393 rooms and suites this month.
