Illinois
TownePlace Suites by Marriott Champaign, located on the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign campus, will open in July within walking distance of many meeting facilities and dozens of restaurants and shops. www.marriott.com

Michigan
DoubleTree by Hilton opened the DoubleTree by Hilton Grand Rapids Airport after a $2.5 million renovation that transformed the former Hilton Grand Rapids Airport property. The 226-room hotel debuts an open lobby, contemporary guest room updates, revamped meeting spaces, a renovated indoor pool area and a restaurant concept centered on locally sourced menu options. Located two miles from Gerald R. Ford International Airport and one mile from I-96, the hotel is near local destinations and attractions, including the Frederik Meijer Gardens, Woodland Centerpointe Mall, Van Andel Arena and DeVos Place. www.doubletreegrandrapids.com

A $7 million interior renovation of the landmark tower at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Acme is underway. The project is planned for completion by May 31, and impacts 16 floors. The 900-acre resort includes championship golf on three courses, indoor and outdoor tennis, a 100,000-square-foot health club, a full-service spa and 86,000 square feet of meeting space. The resort has 585 rooms, suites and condominiums, and this latest renovation is the capstone of more than $30 million that has been invested in renovations and upgrades since 2003. www.grandtraverseresort.com

Ohio
The 600-room Hilton Cleveland Downtown-Convention Center Hotel is slated to open by June 2016. The $272 million property will be connected to the Cleveland Convention Center and the Global Center for Health Innovation. In addition to multiple ballrooms and meeting rooms, the hotel will include a rooftop bar available for events. www.hilton.com
The 122-room Kimpton Hotel Cleveland is expected to open within the next year in the historic Schofield Building, which will also include luxury residences. The hotel will offer 7,400 square feet of meeting space, including a ballroom and outdoor roof terrace. www.kimptonhotels.com

The Residence Inn by Marriott Cleveland Downtown recently underwent a renovation. The property features 175 suites, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and more than 3,000 square feet of meeting space. The Dayton Grand Hotel is undergoing a property-wide renovation set for completion by the end of the year, when the hotel will be rebranded as a DoubleTree by Hilton. The project includes the refurbishment of all 184 guest rooms and 6,000 square feet of meeting space, plus the addition of a bistro-style restaurant and pool area. Wisconsin
Fontana’s Abbey Resort recently completed the final phase of a multimillion-dollar renovation with a focus on its meeting facilities. The renovation included updates to the lobby, Harbor Ballroom, Wisconsin Ballroom, meeting rooms, prefunction space, spa and the exterior of the resort.
