All’s Well That Ends Well

“Go big or go home” Las Vegas may not readily denote health-related programs. Yet, wellness is a growing focus.

Unveiled in August 2014, the Las Vegas Regional Strategic Plan for Medical and Wellness Tourism aims to position Southern Nevada—with its major spa industry and Las Vegas a magnet for medical industry shows—for increased health-centric tourism.

Cheryl Smith, the LVCVA’s medical and wellness tourism manager, is seeing increasing planner interest in wellness-themed activities.

“Engaging attendees of all ages, these programs facilitate interaction and relationship-building in ways traditional meetings may not,” she says.

MGM Grand Hotel & Casino also recently introduced its Stay Well Meetings program, created by wellness pioneer Delos in conjunction with advisory board member Deepak Chopra and Cleveland Clinic Wellness. The revolutionary experience complements MGM’s existing Stay Well guest rooms, adding environmental, ergonomic, dietary and other features to meeting spaces for enhanced attendee health, energy and productivity.

Meanwhile, the Nightclub & Bar Show, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2014, featured health-conscious products and learning, and international CES (Consumer Electronics Show), Vegas’ biggest event, devotes one-quarter of exhibit space to fitness wearables.
