East Upgrades & Openings (June 2015)

A highlight of new and renovated properties in the East for the month of June 2015.

Maryland
The Hunt Valley Inn, a Wyndham Grand, located in North Baltimore, is finalizing a $15 million makeover slated to wrap early this summer. Highlights of the sweeping revamp include upgrades to 392 guest rooms and suites. The property offers the largest collection of meetings and event space in North Baltimore, with 30,000 square feet of flexible space including 18 multifunctional meeting rooms and a new events lawn.

Massachusetts
The Courtyard Boston Cambridge recently unveiled its new look after a multimillion-dollar facelift that includes extensive renovations to the guest rooms, corridors and meeting rooms. The 207-room hotel is located on the banks of the historic Charles River and can host events for up to 320 people. The property also upgraded its 5,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, which includes the 2,600-square-foot Waterfront Ballroom. Amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, indoor swimming pool with whirlpool spa and complimentary Wi-Fi.

New Jersey
Tropicana Atlantic City is readying for the completion of a $50 million renovation that includes an extensive makeover of the 434 guest rooms in the North Tower, a completely renovated casino floor, a light and sound show set on the property’s Boardwalk facade and the addition of 10 North, a new lounge scheduled to debut in July. In May, a two-story, 12,455-square-foot fitness center opened, as well. The property is home to more than 122,000 square feet of meeting and event space. http://tropicana.net

New York
Brooklyn’s largest hotel, the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, is launching a $43 million renovation and reposition that aims to completely transform it both physically and in the way it serves guests. The first phase of the renovation, including The Bar and exclusive new M Club Lounge, created specifically for frequent Marriott Rewards members, were unveiled this May. At The Bar, guests can enjoy food and drinks sourced locally from Brooklyn. The renovation of the hotel’s ballroom and meeting rooms will be completed in September. All 667 of its guest rooms will complete renovations in 2016. The hotel features more than 40,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space.

Hilton Garden Inn New York Long Island City/Manhattan View, opened in April. The property provides 183 guest rooms, four meeting rooms offering more than 1,410 square feet of flexible meeting space and a presidential suite with prime views of the Manhattan skyline. The property offers complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, a business center, fitness center and an indoor pool.

The new luxury hotel NOMO SOHO recently opened in the SoHo district of Manhattan. Formerly known as the Mondrian SoHo, the 263-room hotel is part of the Preferred Hotel & Resorts’ Lifestyle collection. The term NOMO is an abbreviation for “nostalgic + modern.” Upon its full relaunch later this year, the property’s restaurant and bar spaces will innovate, with menus changing throughout the year.

Washington, D.C.
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants recently renovated The Carlyle–Dupont Circle, converting the property to The Carlyle–Dupont Circle, a Kimpton Hotel. Upgrades were made to the public spaces, restaurant and guest rooms, expanding the hotel from 170 to 198 rooms. The hotel offers 3,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Kimpton is also renovating the Savoy Suites Hotel, slated for completion in 2016, at which point it will become a Kimpton-branded property.
