Site Spotlight: Kalahari Resorts, Pocono Mountains

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is preparing to open a resort in the Pocono Mountains, Pa., this summer. Kalahari will debut with 457 guest rooms as part of its Phase I construction.

The company recently broke ground on Phase II of the project, which when complete will bring the total number of guest rooms to nearly 1,000. The complex will feature the country’s largest indoor waterpark at 200,000 square feet, an expanded outdoor waterpark, a 100,000-square-foot convention center, 30,000-square-foot family entertainment center, three signature dining experiences, the Spa Kalahari & Salon and 6,000 square feet of retail space. The Kalahari Resorts project will cover 150 acres and cost $350 million.

“There will be no indoor or outdoor attraction in the world that can compete with our Poconos resort,” says Todd Nelson, owner, Kalahari Resorts & Conventions.

The outdoor waterpark will feature an outdoor pool, a sundeck, indoor/outdoor whirlpools and a swim-up bar, while the family entertainment center will include mini-bowling, arcade games, a 5-D theater, black light mini golf and more.
