The 100,000-square-foot indoor Myrtle Beach Sports Center opened in March (2015). The facility, situated adjacent to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, includes eight basketball courts, 16 volleyball courts, a cafe and retail area, and an entertainment zone featuring a climbing wall and a 1,500-seat bleacher system.

The new Homewood Suites Oceanfront Resort & Conference Center is expected to open sometime during the spring next year. The property will have 100 suites and a 300-seat conference center, and will share pools and other amenities with the Hampton Inn Oceanfront next door.

Springmaid Beach Resort, located on the south end of Ocean Boulevard, will be repositioned as a DoubleTree Resort by Hilton. The renovation will take approximately a year and a half to complete and the reflagged property will open sometime in 2017 with 500 guest rooms and a conference center.

The Myrtle Beach International Airport, which completed a new $300 million passenger terminal in early 2013, continues to make improvements. The former airport terminal concourse is undergoing a renovation that will service as a fully functional airline and passenger handling area opening up two additional gates in late 2015. The renovation will include improving the outside facade to blend in with the look of the new terminal, additional parking spaces and a resurfaced runway. The target date for the project completion is Dec. 31, 2015.
